Exhibition: TAV X Asialink 10th Anniversary
Through the Asialink network, Taipei Artist Village and Fremantle Arts Centre have facilitated an artist exchange between Taiwan and Australia.
In total, ten Taiwanese artists and ten Australian artists have participated in a three-month residency in each location.
For the 2019 TAV Art Project, we invited four artists who had taken part in this exchange program. They formed two collaborative pairs:
Hsu Yen-Ting (TW) x Sally Richardson (AU) and Alice Lin (TW) x Claire Bushby (AU).
Hsu Yen-Ting and Sally Richardson began their collaboration in 2015 after meeting through the Asialink Reciprocal Exchange program. They have worked together for over four years and planned to present their joint work in 2019. Their project, CONNECT, reflects the essence of the exchange program—exploring deep connections through their shared artistic language.
Alice Lin and Claire Bushby met in 2019, introduced by Taipei Artist Village. Their project, Tea Stories, uses pottery and weaving to gently express the connections formed over tea. Visitors are invited to enter this space to listen, talk, and share in the experience of tea time.
Taiwan and Perth share the same time zone (GMT+8) but sit on opposite sides of the equator, carrying distinct cultures and landscapes. However, through artist exchanges, shared values and resonant concepts have emerged. This is made possible through the support of Asialink and Fremantle Arts Centre, whose efforts have fostered many possibilities for collaboration and created opportunities to present this work to audiences in both countries.
